Duality Basket by Fannie King (#100)

12 1/4"

Fannie Bitsinnie King is a traditionally raised Navajo woman from Monument Valley, the heart of Navajo land. Fannie married a Paiute, who took her to his tribal stronghold at Navajo Mountain. With this basket, Fannie has placed four radiating cross designs that reflect the Navajo and Paiute belief that stars and mountains contain both male and female counterparts. Because of the deity within, mountains and stars are holy places of harmony and balance.
