Micaceous Clay Navajo Corn Pot by Monte White (#01)

Without a doubt, corn is considered the fruit of life to Navajo artist Monte (Tee) White. Tee is a self-taught potter who uses the age-old method of creating pottery from "the good earth herself." With his bare hands, Tee does everything from excavating the highly unusual micaceous clay, to shaping, carving, firing, and sealing the finished pot with pinion pitch. "Whether you know it or not," claims Hasteen Tee, "there is a lot of work and time in this vessel!" Oh, not only do we know it, we appreciate that fact and the artistry behind Tee's work. Very nice indeed!
