Classic Navajo Pictorial Weaving (ca. 1930s), unknown artist (#65)

80" x49"

Pictorial weavings by Navajo artists are extremely rare, and it has been estimated that only about one percent of all weavings since 1880 contain illustrations. This large floor rug (ca. 1930s) features a series of figures, complete with cowboy hats, concho belts, and boots. Despite an old repair and minor fading on one side, this weaving is a stellar example of classic Navajo pictorial artistry.
