Sterling Silver Ketoh-Style Ring
1 1/4" x 3/4"
Derrick Gordon is a master jeweler who draws much of the inspiration for his jewelry from historical Navajo implements. Early Navajo people used the bow and arrow for harvesting wildlife and self-protection. The Ke-toh (aka, bow guard) was developed as a leather cuff worn over the wrist of the bow hand to protect it from the snap of the bow string. It did not take long for the Navajo to decorate the opposite side of the bow guard and make it aesthetically pleasing. This ever-popular design for the guard is the same one Derrick used for this ring. How’s that for an abbreviated history lesson?
