This necklace features a combination of efforts by two talented crafts persons. Anglo lapidary artist John Huntress created the Blue Gem turquoise beads that were originally made as jaclas, the old-time “ear-strings” worn by Navajo men for generations. Small slabs of spiny oyster shell form the tabs for the piece. Our Navajo friend, Katie Yazzie, finished the necklace with very small sterling silver beads. Together, they created a memorable example of collaborative jewelry.
