Vintage Zuni Knifewing Bolo Tie, unknown artist (#03)

Pendant is 3" by 4"

This is a classic piece of Zuni inlay work honoring the Knifewing, a sky being featuring both bird and human form. The Knifewing is the early war god of the Zuni people, but does not participate in contemporary ceremonies. This fine bolo, crafted sometime in the 1950s, features mother-of-pearl, jet, coral, and turquoise housed in a silver frame.
