How Navajo artist Ben Yazzie so precisely translated 14k gold sheet, wire, and precious stones into such an exacting replica of the esteemed Horned Toad is a task far beyond the ability of most metalsmiths. Horned Toads are loved to the point of reverence in the culture of the Navajo and are believed to be the most adoring and benevolent creatures in return. Ben’s amazingly lifelike broach honors both the inner and outer forms of Grandfather Horned Toad. The addition of diamonds and garnets adds greater beauty and dimension. It captured "Best of Class" honors at last year’s Navajo Shiprock Fair.
