Recently Jamie Olson wandered the giant tents of the Tucson, Arizona, Gem and Mineral Show. The exhibit aisles were heavily stocked with everything from findings used to create jewelry to everything else that might be set into wearable art. Proudly displayed upon one of the tables was a slice of the Seymchan meteorite originally discovered in 1967. Seymchan is a pallasite meteorite found in a dry bed of the river Hekandue, a left tributary of the river Jasacnaja in the Magadan district, Russia. From that find, Jamie was inspired to build a one-of-a-kind bolo tie. With sterling silver and a woven leather strap, Jamie conceived this "out-of-this-world" neck piece.

About the artist:

James A. Olson James A. Olson - Jewelry/Sculpture Artist:
"About my work, or lack of, it chose me as much as I chose it. Asked where I get my ideas, I can't really say for sure. I'm thankful I get them once in awhile, and have the basic skills to carry them through to a satisfactory condition, at that point and time. I'm blessed, I love what I do, it's a passion. When that love and passion is not there, I'll do something else." See full biography | See all items by James A. Olson
