Beginning in 1896, a legendary trader named J. B. Moore opened his trading post in Crystal, New Mexico. He encouraged his weavers to create distinctive rugs with large and powerful graphic designs and pleasing bright colors. Moore was the first person to publish a mail order catalogue and sell Navajo weavings to the general public. We believe this weaving was created in the 1940s. It contains all the elements of the old Crystal patterns, is alive with vibrant colors, and remains in very fine condition.
