In the 1940s, Sally and William Lippincott, owners of the trading post at Wide Ruins, Arizona worked with local weavers to develop highly detailed banded patterns rendered in subtle vegetal dyes. This textile is a classic example of the Wide Ruins rug pattern. The weave is flat and even with very fine and tightly woven hand-spun yarn. The rug features vegetal colors in soft green, pale purple and muted gold. This is a lovely weaving with a gentle character.
