Sometimes when I wasn’t focusing on the game, I would listen to the vendors and what they were shouting. There were about ten or fifteen vendors walking around the lawn. They sold all the things you would expect for a ball game (except hot dogs). Some of the things they sold were beer (blaugh!), cotton candy, lemonade, peanuts, slushes and soda. Mom treated us to popcorn, peanuts, a hot dog, a slush, a Pepsi, the works! My brother got a bonus. His baseball cap was dirty, so Mom bought him a blue and red Cubs baseball cap. LUCKY!!
By then I started to concentrate on the game more, but it wasn’t going well for the Cubs. For awhile this one pitcher kept walking a lot of Athletic players. I think he walked three Athletics home. The ending to the game was absolutely, fabulously amazing. The A that was up to bat hit a deep one to left field, but the left fielder picked it up, snapped it home and threw the runner out and that won the game! I wasn’t sure if baseball games have |
